The sports coordinator, staff and dedicated students help in promoting the benefits gained from regular participation in sport and physical activity within the school. Students at Dysart SHS are offered a range of sporting opportunities throughout the school year. Students can be involved in a variety of interschool sports, trials for Central Highlands teams, trials for Capricornia District teams or engage in lunchtime competitions available at school. By being involved in sporting activities they are benefitting from learning how to work with others, commitment to an activity and developing healthy lifestyle habits to take with them into the future.
Dysart SHS aims to cater for all students through a variety of sporting options throughout the year. We will continue to offer students sporting opportunities via quality choices of physical activities and sports provided by staff and community members with experience and knowledge.
Annually the school holds events such as the athletics carnival, swimming carnival and cross country. Results from school sporting activities will be posted in the school newsletter on a regular basis and age champions will be announced on assemblies.
The procedure for trialling for representative sport:
- 10-12 year old students trial and represent through the Peak Downs district sport system to then follow the Central Highlands system
School trial ► Peak Downs trial ► Central Highlands District trial ► Capricornia trial
School trial ► Central Highlands District trial ► Capricornia trial
All nominations go to the Sports Co-ordinator via a nomination form.
Students are advised of nomination and trial dates via student notices for at least ONE week prior to deadlines.
Late nominations cannot be accepted as nominations need to be with the relevant sporting body and conveners by set dates.
For further information regarding sporting activities, please do not hesitate to contact the Sports Co-ordinator via the school office.
For 2020 the Sports Co-ordinator is Brian Amedee.
