I am very proud to have been appointed as the permanent Principal of Dysart SHS. Our values of learning and achieving through respect, responsibility and resilience to optimise results provides a framework for our operations as well as our strategic direction. The school has two strategic objectives:
- School Culture - create an inclusive culture of engaging learning that improves wellbeing and achievement, values diversity and responds to student’s needs and interests. We need to ensure that there is a consistent implementation of school processes across the whole school in order to improve school culture.
- Writing – a focussed and explicit approach to build skill and capacity in the explicit teaching of writing skills followed by a plan of implementation into classroom practice.
Students at Dysart SHS are deserving of the highest level of educational outcomes. With this belief, the school will work with the community to ensure that individual differences are catered for and provide a balance between academic, cultural, sporting as well as personal and social development. This will help ensure that when students leave Dysart SHS, they are equipped to live and work successfully in society.
The community can be assured that the staff at Dysart SHS are dedicated and committed to ensure that student’s outcomes are maximised. Staff are supported by the administration of the school to ensure ongoing development in their capability in their subject areas, their classroom management and their overall development as an educator.
I would like to thank the staff, students, parents and community for providing me with insight into the school, its past, its traditions, what they like about the school and what concerns they have. Open communication is absolutely essential and I would welcome meetings with parents at any time if they have any concerns or just to let us know that all is going well. Parents and prospective parents are invited to tour the school with the Principal at 9.00am each and every Monday morning.
